With New England starting the season with little to no snow that continued through even the middle of winter, March has brought massive snow totals to some resorts in the north.
On Saturday morning Okemo reported 8 inches. Heavy snowfall during the day buried the snow camera by 5 PM. The top is 22 inches! How often have we seen that happen all within 24 hours?
Other significant totals as of late Saturday are 21 inches at Magic Mountain, 17 at Killington, and 14 inches at both Cannon and Sunday River
Radar and weather models indicate that snow will continue to fall over New Hampshire and Maine Saturday evening but quickly push out by midnight. Most of the action in Vermont has ended on Saturday evening.
While the east is getting crushed, the west is under a very unsettled pattern for the next week which might continue well into the 1st week of April. The Sierra grabbed 10-20 inches on Saturday with additional snow for Sunday morning. The Rockies are in the hunt for powder on Sunday/Monday (5-15). Several waves of light to moderate snow will continue out west this week with more significant storms mid to late week. There will be a lot to talk about in the next 7-12 days.
