Kings top Coyotes to remain unbeaten on road
Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

Trevor Moore scored two goals for the Los Angeles Kings in a 4-1 win against the Arizona Coyotes on Monday night in Tempe, Ariz.

Phillip Danault had a goal and an assist, Anze Kopitar also scored and Pheonix Copley made 30 saves for the Kings, who improved to 8-0-0 on the road, tied for the third-longest road-winning streak to start a season in NHL history.

Lawson Crouse scored and Connor Ingram made 21 saves for the Coyotes, who have lost two in a row for the first time since back-to-back losses to the Kings on Oct. 24 and Oct. 27.

Arizona went on an early power play when Jaret Anderson-Dolan was called for hooking, but it was the Kings who scored short-handed to move ahead 1-0.

Moore blocked a lateral pass in the Los Angeles zone and headed the other way. He got the puck back near the red line and drove down the right side, holding off Alexander Kerfoot before scoring up high on the short side at 3:36.

It was the third short-handed goal in the past five games for Los Angeles.

The Kings made it 2-0 at 8:20 of the first period when Quinton Byfield stole a pass in the Arizona zone, held off two defenders and then backhanded a centering pass to Kopitar for the one-timer.

The Coyotes failed to take advantage of two prime scoring opportunities in the opening period.

Jason Zucker was turned away by Copley on a breakaway at 11:29, and Crouse shot wide on a short-handed breakaway with 28 seconds left.

Moore knocked down a pass from Matias Maccelli in the Arizona zone and scored with a wrist shot from the shot for a 3-0 lead at 15:31 of the second period

Crouse got the goal back when he poked a rebound through Copley's pads to cut the lead to 3-1 with 1:05 left in the second.

Arizona went 0-for-6 on the power play, including four minutes with a man advantage after a double-minor high-sticking penalty on Adrian Kempe at 7:51 of the third.

Danault scored with a wrist shot off the rush to extend the lead to 4-1 with 3:45 left.
