The Pittsburgh Steelers traded Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles merely a month ago.
Yet, it feels like things never even happened between Pickett and Pittsburgh, with both sides moving on.
Nothing proves that more than the assignment of the #8 Jersey to a player that likely won’t even be on the roster come September:

Wright was signed a few weeks back, with the team making the move as insurance for kicker and special teams star Chris Boswell.
Wanting to take a load off of him coming training camp, it’s clear Pittsburgh added Wright thanks to his familiarity with the squad after filling in for an injured Boswell in 2022.
But Wright himself likely knows he won’t be in Pittsburgh past August, using the practice to stay ready for another opportunity that may present itself.
And still, they gave him the jersey # of a player who less than a year ago was thought to be the next great player in franchise history.
If that doesn’t tell how fast things move in the NFL, I’m not sure what will.
