ESPN thinks the Kansas City Chiefs' 2024 rookie class has the chance to be the most impactful this year
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are used to having great rookie classes. They haven't had a bad one in a pretty long time. The Chiefs have one of the best and youngest defenses in the league and several very young weapons on the offense, like Rashee Rice, Isiah Pacheco, and others.

The Chiefs nailed their draft class, as we saw. They were able to get some amazing value in some great spots in terms of draft positions and the positions they needed on their roster. They addressed just about every need on the roster.

But, to say that their draft class could have the biggest impact on the year is kind of wild, but in a good way. That's not saying their class is bad, but more so that it's hard to have that much more of an impact on the Chiefs, who just won back-to-back Super Bowls. But, one ESPN analyst, Jason Reid, thinks the class is that good.

Jason Reid: Kansas City Chiefs. It's stunning that the Chiefs maneuvered into the position to pick WR Xavier Worthy at No. 28. They moved up to get a player who was clocked at 4.21 seconds in the 40-yard dash -- the fastest time ever -- and he's the guy quarterback Patrick Mahomes wanted most. Also, don't be surprised if massive offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia, the 63rd overall pick, is the Chiefs' Week 1 starter at left tackle. -ESPN

Reid is 100% correct in his assessment of the class, but the one thing he forgot to mention was Jaden Hicks, who could truly be a wildcard on this insane defense. Hicks can play that third safety role and even be the second safety if he has to.

Of course, the Jared Wiley addition also plays a much different game than second-string tight end Noah Gray. Wiley can be an end-zone threat because of his vertical ability. There are so many different layers to this draft class that they could very well be the most impactful in 2024.
