Browns’ Jameis Winston’s reasoning for signing in Cleveland may be a surprise to some
Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

One of the more interesting decisions that the Cleveland Browns made this offseason was to bring Jameis Winston in over Joe Flacco.

The Browns went with the younger Winston, who had a bigger market than Flacco, though they both signed for around the same price.

Now that OTAs are just about here, it makes sense to know why Winston really signed in Cleveland. Winston appeared on the Up & Adams show to discuss just that.

"With us adding Ken Dorsey as our offensive coordinator, I really admire Kevin Stefanski's ability to just learn from everyone in the room" explained Winston. "For us and Snoop (Tyler) Huntley out of Baltimore, everyone brings something to the table that we can work within that quarterback room."

Right off the rip, it appears that Stefanski was a major draw to Cleveland for Winston. The Browns currently have four quarterbacks on the roster with Deshaun Watson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson joining Winston and Huntley.

Cleveland is unlikely to keep four quarterbacks going into the regular season but Winston is the No. 2 guy, that much is known.

If all goes to plan for Cleveland, they won’t have to heavily rely on a quarterback like they did each of the last two seasons. Still, the Browns had to prepare as if they would with how Watson’s two seasons have gone and Winston was a good guy to put in that place.

The addition of Winston has been welcomed by everyone for the teammate that he is in the locker room. Now, we know why he ended up in Northeast Ohio himself.
