Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rowdy Tellez has been on the injured list since July 5. Initially, he was recovering from forearm inflammation, but then a freak incident while shagging fly balls resulted in a bad finger injury. Most recently, he has been on a minor league rehab assignment, but could be back during the Texas Rangers series.
Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Tellez could return to the club this weekend. He described this scenario as “highly likely.”
There is a high likelihood that Rowdy Tellez will rejoin the Brewers in Texas during this series, I’ve been told.

While on minor league rehab assignment, Tellez got off to a bit of a slow start. His first week consisted of a 2-for-18 stretch with no extra base hits. More recently, his bat has turned the corner, and that includes a three-game hitting streak, two multi-hit games and a walkoff three-run home run.
If Tellez does return to the Brewers this weekend, he could see time as the designated hitter. Milwaukee acquired first baseman Carlos Santana while he was out injured, and the switch-hitting veteran has been one of the best defenders in baseball this year.
The Brewers offense is coming off a dreadful performance against the Los Angeles Dodgers and could use a shot in the arm. Tellez could provide that if his bat continues to stay hot.
