As many of you know, I was raised by my grandmother. I was fortunate enough this summer, to find a charity that focuses on grandparents raising their grandchildren. Over the past few months, I have been spending time with the grandparents and grandchildren in this organization acting as a mentor and a friend. This past Sunday, I invited 10 children from the group to join me at our football game vs the Titans. We might not have won the game, but these kids won my heart. The kids were on the sideline during pre-game, cheering "The Show" on. After the game, I met with the kids and signed some autographs and then we had a serious talk where I spoke to them about respecting their elders and to never give up because better days will come. I see myself in those children and I remember when I was in their shoes. I remember looking up to athletes as I was growing up and they were that force that pushed me to become who I am today. I only hope that I will be a positive force in the kids' in my Bowe's Bunch lives' and push them to strive for something greater than they could ever imagine.
